HONG KONG, Jul 27 (FAM) – There’s no problem with a landlord renting a room from a tenant – that’s Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen Kwok- keung’s analogy to describe Hong Kong’s co-location agreement with Beijing on the Express Rail Link West Kowloon Terminus.

A day after the government announced its co-location deal for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong link, three officials went on radio to sell the package. While, the Legislative Council’s House Committee will hold a special meeting next Thursday to discuss the deal.

The scheme will involve leasing areas within the terminus to the mainland, Yuen said. He denied claims the government has “ceded land.” The arrangement can be likened to a tenant-landlord relationship in which Beijing is the landlord and Hong Kong its tenant, Yuen said.
