TOKYO, Apr 24 (FAM) – Outbound containers from Japan to China surged 21.3% from a year earlier to 1,069,630 tons in February, enjoying year-on-year growth for the fourth consecutive month, according to a report on container movement between the economies that was unveiled on April 20 by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). They increased year on year for four months in a row on a value scale as well, soaring 23.8% to \677.3 billion.

In contrast, imports from China to Japan plunged 14.9% to 1,298,380 tons, suffering the first double-digit contraction in four months. In terms of value, they sank 25.6% to \744.4 billion, registering the first year-on-year decline in two months.
