TOKYO, Apr 6 (FAM) – The combined volume of containerized shipments moved by major shipping companies among 13 countries and regions in Asia declined 16.4% from a year earlier to 855,000 TEUs in February, incurring a year-on-year decrease for two months in a row.

Dry and reefer containers both suffered double-digit contractions, falling 16.2% to 808,000 TEUs and 19.3% to 47,000 TEUs, respectively. Overall container throughput on the intra-Asia trade route plunged on an accumulated basis as well, sinking 15% to 1.88 million TEUs in total in the first two months (January-February).
