MEXICO, Mar 24 (FAM) – Mexico’s Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) has found a fundamental lack of competition between Kansas City Southern (KCS) and other freight rail operators in the country.

The line was reactivated more than a decade ago, when it was thought that the ports of LA and Long Beach would be overwhelmed by imports.

This led to the expansion of the west coast Mexican Port of Lazaro Cardenas, with plans to take the import overflow and run it north through El Paso, Texas, to Topeka, Kansas, and beyond.
