HONG KONG, Mar 8 (FAM) – Controversial legal issues surrounding a joint immigration facility of an express rail link should be ironed out by means of a mutual agreement between Hong Kong and Beijing, local deputies to China’s legislature have suggested.

This came as layout plans emerged detailing mainland clearance and quarantine facilities at the West Kowloom terminus, with a detention area and a search room sparking fears that mainland law enforcement personnel could operate within Hong Kong jurisdiction.

Speaking at a National People’s Congress meeting in Beijing on Tuesday, local deputy Michael Tien Puk-sun suggested a “mainland port area” and implementing co-location arrangements.
