LONDON, Feb 28 (FAM) – Containership orders fell to an all-time low last year and have little chance of a major revival in the next few years, according to shipping analyst Drewry, which said lines have a further opportunity to help balance supply and demand in the short term by deferring delivery of some existing orders.

In its latest Container Insight Weekly report published yesterday, Drewry said the the entire shipbuilding industry is in crisis, noting: “Nobody is ordering vessels, of any type, and pretty soon yards across the world will find themselves with little to keep them occupied.”
