TOKYO, Feb 20 (FAM) – Container exports from Japan to China surged 15.9% from a year earlier to 1,120,539 tons in December 2016, according to a report compiled by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) from statistical data on trade unveiled by the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The total value soared 12.1% to \723 billion. They marked year-on-year growth for the second consecutive month in both volume and value.

Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan increased 4.3% to 1,829,558 tons, which also swelled year on year for two months in a row. On the other hand, they were sluggish on a value scale, falling 9.5% to \1.005 trillion, suffering a year-on-year decline for nine consecutive months.
