BEIJING, Dec 6 (FAM) – Wei Hong, former director of the International Air Transport Division of the Transport Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), was sentenced to three and one-half years in prison and a 250,000 yuan ($36,296) fine on Monday for taking bribes, the Beijing Times reported on Monday.

Wei, aged 46, was convicted of accepting bribes worth 1.4 million yuan from eight airline operators and airports, such as Taiyuan Airport in Taiyuan, North China’s Shanxi Province, Spring Airlines, Juneyao Airlines and Sichuan Airlines, in exchange for arranging cargo flights and approving applications for air routes from 2001 to 2015, said the report published by Global Times.
