WASHINGTON, Nov 12 (FAM) – US maritime watchdog, the Federal Maritime Commission, has seen no evidence of price-fixing by the mega container shipping alliances and anticipates more consolidation in the industry will follow, according to the commission’s chairman Mario Cordero.

In an interview, Cordero addressed concerns of cargo owners and maritime regulators that alliances formed by the top ocean carriers in the past two years might have led to secret deals to drive up freight rates, reported Hellenic Shipping News, citing Lloyd’s List.
