GERMANY, Nov 10 (FAM) – The turnaround this year of DHL’s freight forwarding business following two troubled years continued in the third quarter (Q3) of 2016, with the division achieving solid growth in ocean freight volumes for the third consecutive quarter and the first quarter of year-on-year air freight growth since Q1 2015.

Commenting on the performance of DHL Global Forwarding and Freight (DGFF) in the third quarter, Deutsche Post DHL CEO Frank Appel said the ocean freight volume growth was accompanied by further positive development of gross profit (GP) per TEU. A decline in GP in air freight, despite a slight volume increase, was due to early peak season rate increases.
